It is popularly said that Bermuda grass deserves “a monument of service to mankind”, for it immensely controls soil erosion, biggest problem of our generation. So to make our lawn greener with Bermuda grass we need fertilizers.
While preparing the lawn for planting of Bermuda grass PH neutralizing fertilizers should be applied. Lime or sulphar fertilizer will balance soil quality. The desirable PH for Bermuda grass lawn should be between 6-7.
For good growth, Bermuda grass needs constant fertilizers.
1. Nitrogen fertilizer is important .one pound nitrogen fertilizer is sufficient for 1,000 square feet. It should be applied regularly every month.
2. Winter is the season when Bermuda grass needs extra care. Potassium fertilizer is a must during this season.
3. Higher soil fertility is required for lush green lawn. Phosphorous fertilizer should be applied three to four times in a year.
Hybrid Bermuda grass needs more care in matters of fertilizer. If you want a plush lawn, do not forget to fertilize. Infact you can make a yearly calendar and keep ticking off the fertilizing done. This will be a good reminder. And you will be happy to see the end result. |
